EXHIBITION: ‘ILLUMINATE - THE ART OF ILLUSTRATION’

I am very honoured to have curated the exhibition Illuminate - The Art of Illustration at Anglesea Art Space.
Six Surf Coast illustrators came together to exhibit an enchanting body of artwork that reflected a breadth of styles, applications, experience and imagination – and with the natural environment at our door, an unmistakable theme was woven throughout. These multidisciplinary artists have published books, participated in markets and exhibitions, contributed to educational projects, worked on branding for organisations or events, and developed their own unique path in the art of storytelling and inventing new worlds to explore.
It can be tricky to understand the difference between illustration and art. As more creatives work across mediums and find alternative ways to output their work, this is more evident than ever – which is fabulous! So as pen and pencil and ink and paint and digital stylus were applied, each piece was able to be viewed as a standalone work of art, evoking scenarios and stories to illuminate our own imaginations.
